Lesson-4 Vitamin-M

Vitamin-M

Vitamin-M is a heartwarming story about Grandpa, Ravi, and Ravi’s mother. The story teaches us not to judge elderly people by their age or forgetfulness and reminds us to respect them.

One morning, Ravi’s mother says that someone should invent “Vitamin-M” (Memory Vitamin) because she thinks Grandpa is becoming forgetful. Ravi feels sorry for Grandpa.

Grandpa goes out alone with his walking stick. Ravi secretly follows him because he is worried that Grandpa may lose his way. Grandpa visits many places like a barber shop, tea stall and bus stop. Ravi tries hard to keep following him and even thinks like a detective.

At one point, Ravi loses Grandpa and becomes frightened. He thinks Grandpa is lost. When he reaches home, he is surprised to find Grandpa already sleeping peacefully in his room.

Later, Grandpa gives Ravi a gift-wrapped book of detective stories. Ravi’s mother says that Ravi’s birthday was three months ago. Grandpa smiles and reminds everyone that it is his own birthday, and he always gives gifts to every child in the family on his birthday. Ravi’s mother had forgotten the date. Grandpa jokingly says that she needs “Vitamin-M” for her memory, not him.

The story teaches us that old people may be wiser and sharper than we think. We should love, respect and trust them instead of making wrong assumptions.
