Expert Detectives is a story about two curious children, Nishad (Seven) and his sister Maya.

They live in Shankar House and become very interested in a strange neighbour, Mr Nath. Mr Nath lives alone, has scars on his face, no friends, and does not talk much. Maya believes he is a criminal hiding from the police.

Nishad is kind-hearted. He feels Mr Nath is poor and lonely. He gives him a bar of chocolate and talks politely to him.

Nishad collects information from Ramesh, the waiter. He learns that Mr Nath eats simple food, pays regularly, and tips well. Every Sunday, a fat man with spectacles visits him.

Maya makes many detective theories, but Nishad does not agree. He believes Mr Nath is a good but lonely person and wants to be his friend.

The story shows the difference between suspicion and sympathy.
